Sweetpea's Treats
My name is Jeannine. I love baking and decorating. I find so much inspiration from looking at other peoples blogs so I thought I'd start my own and hopefully, one day inspire someone as well!

Another Oldie
Now, I don't do anything half-way. That is just not how I roll! This is the VERY FIRST cake I had ever done in my life besides your basic round two-layer cake with store bought icing smeared all over it. Throw some candles in...Voila! Done!
I decided that this year (1996), I was going to decorate a birthday cake for my oldest daughter who was turning 8. She was having a Dress up/Tea Party so I thought a castle type cake would be perfect.
To back up a little, myMother-in-law ex-husband's mother used to decorate cakes, so she had quite a collection of decorating tools, along with many, many Wilton cake decorating books. So, I went through the books and true to form, chose something that was not quite beginner friendly. When I decide to do something, my motto is Go big, or go home!
One crucial piece of information that my mentor failed to clue me in on was the need to support stacked cakes. Hence, the sag. Sad, because other than that, it was really quite good. If I must say so myself.
Back in the day, we didn't have a digital camera so these were actual photos that I scanned and don't quite do the cake justice.
I have to say, the girls didn't seem to mind the sagging. They just wanted cake!

My New Blog

So I am going to try to join the blogging nation! I will be posting some pictures of cakes and cookies I've done and adding more moving forward. I've just started with cookies so I'm a work in progress. I love it though. I can't wait for my kids to go back to school so I can bake cookies and get them out of my house! Can't keep them around or I will eat them! hehe
So I'll start with an OLD cake I did many, many years ago. I was into decorating cakes for a while then I quit for several years.
This is a cake I did about 12 years ago or so. It was for a baby shower and it was my first time doing royal icing figures. I think they turned out pretty great. Mom to be was very happy.
